Wails, sobs, and screams the entire time) What I hated about some passages, was that central characters related their whole life stories or gave explanations in one lengthy monologue where you get the impression that the author didn't want to waste any space with an interesting build-up. (I usually like a bit of drama, but this was just too much, even for me. If you're into that, this might be the book for you. His metaphors are often original and beautiful, yet in general overly dramatic writing prevails. The author is a fairly decent writer, but surely nothing more than that. In the end I settled with two since the obvious shortcomings clearly outweigh the benefits.įirstly, fancy words don't make a good book. For quite some time I was on the fence whether to give this book two or three stars.
